Mesiba, located in the Moxy Williamsburg, is a bold reimagining of hospitality in the heart of Brooklyn. What began as a planned coffee shop evolved into a vibrant dining destination, thanks to the vision and expertise of Barrel Aged Management. This modern Tel Aviv-inspired restaurant celebrates the flavors and culture of the Levant, while its design and ambiance invite guests to revel in the art of breaking bread together.
The transition from a coffee shop to a full-service restaurant was no small feat. BAM recognized the potential to transform the space into something far greater—a venue that would not only serve the neighborhood but also become a destination for New Yorkers seeking a fresh and festive dining experience. The team undertook every aspect of the project, from spatial planning to maximize efficiency and flow, to the meticulous selection of china, glassware, and silverware. Uniform design, executed in collaboration with Mad Artistic, added another layer of thoughtful detail, aligning with the restaurant’s cohesive brand identity.
To bring the concept to life, BAM in partnership with James Beard hospitality group, Bar Lab, worked with the acclaimed branding agency Italic to develop a brand that reflects the vibrant energy and cultural richness of Mesiba. The restaurant’s name, meaning “party” in Hebrew, encapsulates its ethos—celebratory, communal, and inviting. Recruiting Chef Eli Buliskeria was a key step in establishing Mesiba’s culinary identity. Chef Buliskeria’s expertise in Levantine cuisine brings an innovative and seasonal approach to traditional dishes, seamlessly weaving influences from Israel, Lebanon, Egypt, Turkey, and beyond.
BAM’s holistic approach to this project ensured that every detail aligned with the overarching vision of creating a destination that resonates with both locals and visitors. By elevating the space’s potential and crafting a distinctive brand experience, Mesiba stands as a testament to BAM’s ability to deliver innovative concepts that merge culinary excellence with a strong sense of place. Williamsburg now boasts a culinary gem that embodies the festive spirit of Tel Aviv, setting a new standard for modern hospitality in Brooklyn.
